A town in Maricopa County, Paradise Valley AZ is considered a suburb of Phoenix AZ, but it is also the wealthiest municipality in the state of Arizona. It was named for the larger area that stretches between Camelback Mountain and the McDowell Mountains, and Mummy Mountain dominates the landscape. Starting out as a more agrarian settlement, it was first used for cattle grazing in the 1880s, and it became more of a residential area in the latter half of the twentieth century. Today, it is known as a resort town, as it is home to eight full-service resorts and has high real estate prices.
Multiple different popular resorts are the main attraction of the area offering tons of amenities for visitors, and the Ritz-Carlson will be building another resort in the near future. There are also plenty of municipal parks to enjoy. Multiple different resorts have their own trailways in a network of criss-crossing trails through the area, great for hiking, biking, and the occasional horseback ride. Known for its love of vintage cars, one of the signature events of Paradise Valley is the annual Veterans’ Appreciation Vintage Car Show.
